According to a report on May 15, cryptocurrency advocate lawyer John E Deaton warned that if the US Congress does not pass the GENIUS Act on stablecoins in a timely manner, cryptocurrency regulatory reforms could be delayed until 2029. This view is supported by Messari founder Ryan Selkis and many others.

Deaton criticizes the management attitude of the United States for constantly changing strongly according to political fluctuations. He believes that current regulations are still mainly based on the legal framework from the 1930s and 1940s.

Selkis notes that if the bill is not passed this week, cryptocurrency reform could be stalled under a future Trump administration.
