Slovenia: Ljubljana is the top most crypto-friendly city in the world: the metric
Multipolitan has compiled its ranking of the most crypto-friendly cities taking into account 5 metrics: 1) regulatory environment, 2) tax regime, 3) wealth and lifestyle, 4) digital infrastructure and 5) infrastructure for cryptocurrencies
Each metric contributed to the aggregate score, with a double weighting of the crypto culture to highlight its importance
The final scores, scaled to 180 points, determined the ranking, highlighting the cities that combine legal, economic, and infrastructural strengths to attract crypto enthusiasts and investors
Another ranking, then, considers instead the Crypto Wealth Concentration Index by Multipolitan, which combines the cryptocurrency ownership rates and the trading volume. Here are the top 10 positions:
In any case, Multipolitan then summarized its data by stating who the protagonists of the crypto sector are.
Here, it indicated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as leaders in global adoption, given that 25.3% of the population owns cryptocurrencies. Not surprisingly, only in 2024, the users of the UAE recorded a record of crypto app downloads, reaching 15 million installations, 41% more than in 2023.
India is also a protagonist with its 118.9 million cryptocurrency holders, making it the largest cryptocurrency community in the world
The USA, then, are the so-called “engine of money” and indeed they are home to some of the largest crypto-exchanges and institutional investors in the world, dominating volumes of 2.07 trillion dollars
The small nations with the most crypto influence are then Slovenia, Cyprus, and Hong Kong
The primacy also in 2023 for cryptocurrency enthusiasts
Slovenia had emerged as the capital of crypto enthusiasts worldwide also in another study conducted by Marketplace Fairness, October 2023
