The company Stripe is developing its own blockchain Tempo in partnership with the venture firm Paradigm, reports Fortune. As indicated by a job posting that was later removed, the new protocol will be aimed at payment processing and will be compatible with the Solidity programming language.

According to available information, the project team consists of five people and is currently operating in secrecy.
Sources familiar with the plans claim that Tempo will be a layer-one blockchain, rather than a layer on top of existing networks. Representatives from Stripe and Paradigm declined to comment. The launch of Tempo complements Stripe's recent acquisitions in the crypto sector. In October 2024, the company acquired the infrastructure platform for stablecoins Bridge for $1.1 billion. In June 2025, it acquired the crypto wallet developer Privy, with the deal amount not disclosed.
Experts note that the acquisition of Bridge enables Stripe to offer clients tools for integration and issuance of stablecoins, while the purchase of Privy allows them to provide custodial solutions. The new blockchain will give the company control over the infrastructure that processes transactions.
